Art of the Everyday

There are different opinions on what constitutes "Lifestyle Photography." Or at least the term gets used in practice in different ways. I consider Lifestyle Photography as styled, posed, or candid yet directed photography that represents the art of the everyday. Some may say that lifestyle photography should only show what a person or family might naturally be doing in situations that are representative of them. That makes sense. An example is that many photographers, including me, like taking photographs of families in fields of grass, or, more commonly and truthfully, fields of weeds. One day we are going to all look back and wonder why we were all standing in weeds, but until then, I do love images of children running through the long grasses. As much as I love those images, however, kids generally don't put on cute clothes and then go running through grassy fields...so...maybe not "lifestyle." I tend to save truly candid moments that truly represent a family for Family Documentary. So here are some that I lump into Lifestyle images.
